Wire Gold on Hematite
Placerville Mining District, El Dorado County, California, USA
This interesting gold specimen displays complex dendritic wires which extends and is spread throughout the matrix. The gold wires in some areas are curved and overlapped. In other areas the gold displays sharp straight branches of wire gold. However, what makes this specimen interesting is in specific areas the gold formed clusters of a pyramid shape outer lining. Formation of multiple wire gold are displayed connecting upwards to a single point to form a three dimensional pyramid. The wire gold contained is very unusual and rare due to its close association to a modified octahedron. The color of the native gold is a rich buttery yellow and high in purity with great luster. Natural native gold of this aesthetics are I believe a one off and are not found anywhere else in the world as of now.
