Wire Gold Cluster
Manhattan Mine, Manhattan Mining District, Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, USA
This extraordinary gold specimen displays complex overlapping and slightly curved wire crystals closely clustered together to form one specimen. This gold specimen is incredibly rare as the Manhattan Mine is no longer in operation. The gold wires are visible on all sides with the back side displaying much shorter wire crystals. The gold specimen in dense and exhibits a buttery yellow color with minor quartz matrix in between the lustrous gold crystals. In some areas the gold crystallized into a starburst effect where the gold developed into a star pattern with thick gold wires spreading outwards. This wire gold specimen is a prime example from this locality.
