Spinel Twin Crystal Gold
Placerville Mining District, El Dorado County, California
This highly aesthetic gold crystal displays perfectly crystallized robust octahedral gold crystals in a twinned growth. This type of gold is a first of its kind to ever be discovered from this locality. The gold crystal habits are better than ones from Venezuela and Brazilian gold crystals. The octahedral crystals are both individual and branching out as much more at its top and there are over eleven crystals in count. Some crystals display a cubed lustrous tip growth with multiple smaller angular gold crystals in between. The intense color and luster adds to the already exquisite crystal gold specimen with very high purity in gold content. To get a combination of well-defined crystals, very high luster, and high purity of saturated yellow color is increasingly rare. The small dark matrix attached to the gold is a natural lead arsenic mix, a rare association to find it with native gold together. This is a prime example of rare gold from a locality that does not produce as much as it used to of pristine crystallized gold today.
