Crystallized Gold on Quartz
Round Hill Mine, 750' Level
El Dorado County, California U.S.A.
This very rare gold specimen displays very interesting crystal morphology and is a truly aesthetic gold specimen. Its crystals exhibit thousands of microcrystal growth densely clustered together with secondary growth in between to form a solid gold in quartz specimen. Nearly every direction of the native gold is a bright buttery yellow color each crystals shining like a gem under sunlight. In some areas the gold developed slightly dendritic crystals branching and overlapping one another. Upon closer examination the gold crystals display a network of complex crystallization and flat micro crystal growth. Its white quartz matrix provides an excellent contrast to the native gold. This specimen is a great representation for its locality.
