Gold on Quartz

This extraordinary gold specimen is composed of tick dendritic gold crystals which branch out in multiple directions on the quartz matrix. The surface of the native gold displays flat sculptural faces with some showing very good luster. Its quartz matrix exhibits an oxidized iron surface which was left behind when the gold hydrothermally formed. The native gold displays a bright saturated yellow color with sharp angular crystallized texture. Some areas the native gold crystal displays three-dimensional modified octahedral habits. This gold specimen is a fine example of complex crystallized gold like no other from this locality.
