Gold Leaf Crystal on Quartz
Sonora, Mexico
This extraordinary gold specimen, discovered in the arid Sonora Desert, is a rare locality specimen often unavailable to mineral collectors. Discovered by a local prospector not too far from the original quartz vein rich with gold, this specimen boasts an exceptional gold purity of 94-96%. The native gold features a thick leafy crystal face on its center and a striking luster, with complex clusters of buttery yellow, robust clusters of native gold on quartz crystals in some areas. The opposite side showcases branching crystals of high-purity, thick veins of native gold with complex edges running through the quartz matrix. This specimen is a rare example of high-purity natural gold, found in only a handful of places on Earth.
