Native Gold Crystal
Round Mountain Mine, Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, U.S.A.
This native gold specimen showcases an incredible crystal with intense color and luster. The gold exhibits a rare cubic crystal habit, which is exceptionally difficult to form. Numerous spinel twin cubic crystals are aligned along its side, stacked one atop another. The formation of cubic crystals requires extreme pressures and temperatures occurring simultaneously, making natural cubic gold crystals a rarity. Each crystal features highly lustrous, flat geometric faces, with smaller clusters of gold crystals developing in between. On the reverse side, smaller complex crystals clusters are visible, reflecting light at certain angles, revealing the intricate micro crystal habits on its surface.
