Crystallized Gold on Quartz

This specimen of native gold exhibits a striking, vibrant yellow coloration distinct to gold specimens from Mariposa County. The gold has formed into numerous flat faces, boasting a remarkable luster. Certain gold crystals have amalgamated into a cluster of interlocking leaf formations. The native gold is densely distributed throughout much of the quartz matrix, occasionally punctuated by small inclusions of limonite. The translucent milky-white quartz provides an excellent backdrop, enhancing the visual contrast with the crystallized gold.
