Crystallized Gold on Quartz 
Agua Fria, Mariposa County, California
This unique native gold displays thick wire gold protruding from the quartz matrix. The wire crystal developed into a unique elongated rectangular habit. The quartz matrix also displays areas of sharp angular crystallized clusters of native gold spread throughout the matrix. The gold was found near Agua Fria which means cold water in Spanish and is one of the earliest localities where gold was found in the county. The gold is visible on mostly all sides of the quartz matrix and the white quartz adds elegance to its aesthetics.
