Crystalline Gold
El Álamo district Baja California, México
This remarkably aesthetic gold crystal showcases a finely crystallized sponge-like structure with an uneven surface and numerous small cavities. Its vivid buttery yellow color contrasts beautifully with its crystalline texture. In certain areas, the native gold displays highly lustrous crystal faces, while in others, the luster appears only at specific angles. Parts of the surface reveal clusters of short leaf-like gold that overlap and intersect. Both sides of the specimen are equally captivating, featuring an array of geometric crystals and sharp edges. As the mine is no longer producing gold, specimens like this are becoming rarer and are highly prized by collectors.
