Crystal Gold
El Álamo district Baja California, México
This highly aesthetic gold crystal showcases a perfectly crystallized, sponge-like structure with an uneven surface and many small cavities. Its brilliant buttery yellow color creates a beautiful contrast with the crystalline texture. In some regions, the native gold displays highly lustrous crystal faces, while others exhibit luster when viewed from specific angles. Parts of the surface contain clusters of short wire gold that overlap and intersect. Both sides of the specimen are equally impressive, featuring numerous geometric crystals and sharp edges. With the mine no longer producing gold, such specimens are becoming increasingly rare and highly prized by mineral collectors.
